God wants us to allow him to write our story.
Let us be mind-full, heart-full and soul-full of God.
During one of my devotions I began to consider the formation of courts, and of what would royal court consist? One characteristic that I realized would have no place in royal court is arrogance/pride.
Arrogance and pride: Believing you are what you are not, elevating oneself to a degree of godliness according ones own standard. The only cure for pride is humility, returning us to the proper place of reverence. Making kings of pawns is impossible in the hands of man. Only God is able to make kings of pawns, make greatness out of our lowly states. Think about how chess is played. Once a pawn reaches the opposite end of the board, the only piece that cannot be reproduced is the king. Even when the rook plays as a stand in for the king, the positioning and order of the board is hurt. Actually, this particular play is normally a move of desperation. Psalm 32:9 admonishes us all, “Don’t be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding.” The interesting thing about this scripture is how it alludes to another portion of scripture where God used a mule to speak a word of correction [Numbers 22:28-31], which means that when we are out of order, God reorders in a manor that often seems disorderly to our conception, granting us the misunderstanding of our ways. This is why Bible says if we don’t praise God, the rock will cry out. We are of those who made the mistake of allowing disorder to prevail. Therefore, when God turns the world upside down, God actually turns the world right side up. Remember Psalm 68:20 “Our God is a God who saves; from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
