We believe that God is once again breathing life, a fresh creativity, into our hearts, minds & spirits – a compilation of songs being birthed out of joy, pain, love, hurt, brokenness, strength, weakness, success and failure. Songs that express a genuine response of love and worship to a God that is sovereign – who has redeemed, delivered, ransomed, saved and freed us – a God who is deserving of everything that we have to give, an offering of worship that is our best.
This is our heart for this new record, that regardless of style, flow, reason or rhyme…that God would be glorified and honored above anything else.

Our 40-year Journeys

Don’t think that wandering in the desert for 40 years was something only
done in the past.  When the Israelites were too afraid to go into the
Promised Land, God sent them on a journey for 40 years to wander in the
desert.  The Israelites had been afraid because they believed that the
tribes already inhabiting their land were too strong for them.  They were
afraid that they would be unable to defeat them.  They chose not to
believe in the promise that God had given them, that He would be with them
and protect them.  They did not understand what the phrase “If God is for
us, who can be against us?” meant.  So God allowed them to wander in the
desert for 40 years.

God made them wander in the desert for 40 years, fighting any tribe or
city that stood in their way, and defeating them.  Why did God do this?
He did this as a lesson to the Israelites, to prove fully to them that He
is the Lord and that whatever He promises, He will do.  He did this to
show them that nothing is impossible with God, and to have them bear
witness to His awesome glory.  At the end of the 40 years, they were ready
to reclaim their land.

Now the fact is, God sends us on “40 year” journeys even now.  It’s easy
to read that same story and think in your mind, “Oh, well I would never
have done that.  I would’ve have trusted in God and took the Promised Land
from the start.  What were they thinking?”  But we must keep in mind that
every story in the Bible is there for a reason.  They are reflections of
humanity, things that still remain part of humanity even though time
passes.  Even now, we humans fall for the very same traps that the people
in the Bible fell for.  So yes, we are guilty of the same thing the
Israelites did even now.

We all have moments when we let fear keep us from trusting God.  Sometimes
God may tell us to do something, and it might sound ridiculous in our
worldly and logical minds, and so we over-think and rationalize our way
out of it, refusing to trust that if God gives a command, then you’d
better believe He’ll provide the means to carry it out and the support you
need for it.  We’ll let the fear of what might possibly happen if we fail
blind us from the reality of the fact that we will actually NOT fail,
because if God is for us, who can be against us?  Sometimes God may bless
us with a promise, a promise of a wonderful gift or a glorious plan or
something else, and it will just seem too impossible to accept, or maybe
the obstacles of life that stand in the way of our obtaining the promise
just seem far too daunting.  And so we let fear prevent us from receiving
what God said is rightfully ours.  We may even become content with what we
already have and come to believe in the idea that life is what we see in
front of us, that impossible things do not really happen.  Ultimately we
will choose to disregard what is written in Deuteronomy 28, that we shall
be blessed when we come in and when we go out, blessed in the city and the
country, blessings shall come upon us and overtake us if we choose to obey
the voice of the Lord.

So for those who walk with the Lord, if they let these fears prevent them
from being all that they are called to be, the Lord will train His
children.  He will put them through “40 year” journeys, journeys that
train them and make them stronger, journeys that have them bear witness to
God’s glory, so that they know and understand that God will never leave
them or forsake them, so they know that when God tells them He will do
something He will surely do it, so they know that when God gives them a
command He is behind them 150%.  God is the same yesterday and today and
forever.  So fear not, for He is with you.

Letter from @Bishop_Hilliard [Cathedral International Updates‏]

Beloved of God,

It appears that the "Occupy Wall Street" movement has gained momentum and evolved into numerous "occupy" protest throughout the world. Whatever our opinion is regarding the OWS movement, whether we welcome it as a catalyst for change within our nation, or whether we feel it reflects misplaced frustration, I firmly believe that our nation, even our world would experience an unprecedented revival if the saints of God focused on "occupying Jesus" as intently. The participants exude a firm belief and commitment to their movement. They are willing to sacrifice, to focus, to commit their time to undergird and promote their movement. They are not fearful of "what people will think" nor embarrassed to share their beliefs. The level of commitment exhibited by these demonstrators is admirable and my prayer is that we, the people of God, would demonstrate the same level of commitment to Christ in spreading the Gospel. Compromise of our beliefs is not an option. While we respect the beliefs of others, we must boldly stand on the truth of the Gospel. Here are a few suggestions for "occupying" or strengthening your relationship with Christ:

[THIS FALL] The Misfit Tour 2011

Group (UpLift!) present MISFIT Tour 2011 this Fall, from September through November. The nationwide tour is a fierce, creative explosion of seven of today’s leading voices in Christian music and spoken word and will feature Hip Hop artists including three-time Stellar winner Da’ T.R.UT.H. and Christian Hip Hop pioneer and GRAMMY® nominee The Ambassador, R&B/Soul phenomenon Mali Music, R&B/Hip Hop artists Sean Simmonds and Rhema Soul, powerful spoken-word artist Oraia and the visionary behind MISFIT Tour 2011, Pastor Chris Durso. Tour activities will not only consist of the word and song presentations at each venue, but also volunteer activities or service projects carried out by the tour participants with community members in each city, to demonstrate, together, the positive attributes of being a MISFIT.

MISFIT is a movement that Durso conceived, to revolutionize America’s communities of all cultures, ethnicities and socio-economic and academic statuses, by challenging and equipping youth and young adults across the nation to courageously pursue Godliness in the face of all that seems and often is uncomfortable, unfamiliar, unattractive and unpopular. MISFIT Tour 2011 will bring excitement, inspiration and a strong transformative and rallying message to America’s youth and young adults through media tours, inner-city civic engagement and outreach and dynamic musical performances that will engage any audience.

[Featured Testimony] Not Delivered

Every day I commute to work 45 minutes. In heavy traffic, my commute is an hour. Among friends, I am known as “hell on wheels”; I tend to get where I need to go efficiently and speedily. During my time on the road I might let an expletive or two slip, especially when a car cuts in front of me or a slow car finds itself in the fast lane. By the time I arrive at my office, I have spewed enough filth to rival a minor demon.

My fits of fury most often take place on mornings when I am rushed. After a particularly convicting sermon on ushering the spirit of the Lord into our day at a Wednesday night service, I decided to make Thursday a day of joy. I woke in gratefulness and thankfulness, as I always do, and in addition to my morning prayer for safety and covering in my car I asked God to bind my spirit of entitlement. I asked God to bind my casual tongue and my spirit of haste. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Not surprisingly, my drive became a soaring, effortless ride. I moved in courtesy, compassion, and peace – maintaining my sense of purpose and acknowledging my role in the corporate body. Work is noble, holy, and a blessing. My assumption that my arrival to work was somehow more important than others’ travels was false and arrogant. God made space for us all.

As a person that witnesses people racing out of the church parking lot each week with disdain, I was slightly embarrassed to need a sermon to remind me not to be a road rager. But God corrects us all in gentleness and light. Thankfully…

Humility and the Fear of the Lord - Bob Hoekstra

Humility and the Fear of the Lord
By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor andlife…with the humble is wisdom…The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. (Proverbs 22:411:2; and 9:10)

Many of our previous meditations have clearly demonstrated that walking in humility is the pathway for living by the grace of God. "God…gives grace to the humble" (1 Peter 5:5). In our present verses, we see that humility and the fear of the Lord are related.
Humility and the fear of the Lord result in the same blessings. "By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches and honor and life." The closing trio ("riches and honor and life") are an Old Testament description of a life that is fully blessed by God. The New Testament counterpart would be fullness of spiritual life. "I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly" (John 10:10). Humility and the fear of the Lord also result in wisdom. "With the humble is wisdom… The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom."
Humility is the candid acknowledgment of our absolute need for the Lord to work thoroughly in our lives day by day. The fear of the Lord is respect and reverence toward our great God. It is not a fear involving terror or apprehension. Rather, it is based upon profound admiration and dependent devotion.
Those who humbly fear the Lord (by placing their admiration and devotion in Him) also embrace His perspectives and values. They develop a hatred for the things that He hates. "The fear of the LORD is to hate evilpride and arrogance and the evil way and the perverse mouth I hate" (Proverbs 8:13). Correspondingly, those who have respect and reverence for the Lord develop a love for all that He loves. The Lord loves for His people to walk in righteousness and justice. "The LORD loves the righteous…the LORD loves justice"(Psalm 146:8 and 37:28). The Lord loves Israel, His chosen nation. "The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples" (Deuteronomy 7:7). The Lord loves His church, the children of God. "Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God!" (1 John 3:1). The Lord loves the world, those who need to know Him. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16).

Lord God Almighty, I humbly bow before You, acknowledging my absolute need for You to work thoroughly in my life day by day. I want to walk in the fear of the Lord, placing my admiration and devotion in You. I want to hate all that You hate and love all that You love, in Jesus' name, Amen.

[FREE DOWNLOAD] Formerly Known - Andy Mineo

"Everybody wants to be heard. Everybody wants to be seen. Everybody wants to be known, and everybody's got some dreams."

At first glance, the title "Formerly Known" will strike a chord with anyone who has been following Andy Mineo's music. Those who know about the name change from c-lite to Andy Mineo will get it, but that's not the only reason the mysterious title.

Each of us long to be understood, loved, known. Most of us spend a majority of our life pursuing people, places, and things that we believe can offer this kind of comfort. Andy's hope is that this project will point people to the answer to those longings. We were made to have fellowship with the God that created us and knows us better than we know ourselves. The God that knew us before we were formed in our mothers womb. The God that knows every hair on our head. The God that makes us a new creation.

"I share quite a bit about my past on this project. Much of the album is testimonial. Prior to coming to faith in Jesus, I was an enemy of God. I was my own king, I lived life opposing the loving commands God has given us. I was what the bible describes as "a child of wrath" - but through Christ saving work on the Cross, that is only what I am formerly known as. Now, I am a child of light, a friend of God. My prayer is that many would come to know this God that makes all things new."- Andy Mineo

LECRAE - I AM SECOND

As a child, Hip Hop artist Lecrae’s world was void of good role models. Growing up with a single mom, he would watch rap videos at his grandmother’s house and developed an ability to rap himself. Yet Lecrae wrestled with insignificance, having never met his father and enduring a life of abuse and neglect. He sought to fill this void by surrounding himself with gangsters.

Before long, Lecrae was embroiled in a world filled with drugs, theft, alcohol and gang activity. “I didn’t fit in anywhere. I was just a misfit of a person,” he said.

Little did he know that his view on life would soon be jolted, opening his eyes to the One who valued his life as significant. The One who cared enough to die for him. The One who is behind his music.

[SEPT20TH] The Divine Commandment of Life [Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest]

“...be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect”—Matthew 5:48
Our Lord’s exhortation to us in Matthew 5:38-48 is to be generous in our behavior toward everyone. Beware of living according to your natural affections in your spiritual life. Everyone has natural affections— some people we like and others we don’t like. Yet we must never let those likes and dislikes rule our Christian life. “If we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another” (1 John 1:7), even those toward whom we have no affection.

The example our Lord gave us here is not that of a good person, or even of a good Christian, but of God Himself. “...be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” In other words, simply show to the other person what God has shown to you. And God will give you plenty of real life opportunities to prove whether or not you are “perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Being a disciple means deliberately identifying yourself with God’s interests in other people. Jesus says, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34-35).

The true expression of Christian character is not in good-doing, but in God-likeness. If the Spirit of God has transformed you within, you will exhibit divine characteristics in your life, not just good human characteristics. God’s life in us expresses itself as God’s life, not as human life trying to be godly. The secret of a Christian’s life is that the supernatural becomes natural in him as a result of the grace of God, and the experience of this becomes evident in the practical, everyday details of life, not in times of intimate fellowship with God. And when we come in contact with things that create confusion and a flurry of activity, we find to our own amazement that we have the power to stay wonderfully poised even in the center of it all.

[NOV11TH] UPCOMING EVENT: The Call

On November 11–12, 2011, thousands from across America will gather to Detroit to fast, pray and cry out to God. We will gather to this city that has become a microcosm of our national crisis—economic collapse, racial tension, the rising tide of the Islamic movement, and the shedding of innocent blood of our children in the streets and of our unborn.

But the place where they say there is no hope, God has chosen as His staging ground for a great communal healing and His house of prayer for all nations. Therefore, we are calling the nation to a 24-hour solemn assembly, daring to believe that Detroit’s desperation can produce a prayer that can change a nation.

Come and take your place on the wall in Detroit, where we will ask God to send fire on our hearts, to forgive our national guilt and establish justice in our land.
